The Royal Line was the brand used by the Canadian Northern Steamship Company, which was a short-lived subsidiary of the Canadian Northern Railway, formed in 1910 with the purchase of two steamships from the Egyptian Mail Steamship Company. The two ships were requisitioned by the British Admiralty at the outset of World War I. The Royal Edward was sunk by a German U-boat in 1915, and the Royal George was sold to Cunard in 1916.
