Solum is an ancient parish and former municipality in Telemark county, Norway. In addition to the main parish it contains the two subparishes Melum and Kilebygda. In the period 1609-1738 it was an annex to Skien. In 1838 it was established as a rural municipality. Due to its adjacency to Skien and Porsgrunn, parts of Solum have on several occasions been transferred to those two towns starting in 1764, when Porsgrunn was established as a separate parish, until Solum municipality finally was merged with Skien in 1964.
