Since the lowest administrative units in Sweden would be the parishes, the level above them should be represented by the county (NOT the province) and that is what should be reflected in the Swedish migration structure.

In broad terms, Swedish emigration started abt 1830, the early emigrants were usually well educated and were well off financially. But the largest amount of people left after the American civil war had ended. About 1 200 000 Swedes emigrated to North America between 1860's and 1930's. Some left because of crop failures and famine (1868–1872), some left because of religious conflicts or promises of free land, most just hoping for a better life one would guess.
