See the Talbot Family of Malahide Freespace for details of the Lords Talbot of Malahide.

The lands were first given to Sir Richard Talbot in 1185. He was a young Norman knight from Shrewsbury who travelled with King Henry ll's expedition to Ireland in 1174, following the success of Richard de Clare (Strongbow). He was rewarded with a grant of the "lands and harbour of Malahide" about 1185.
