The Donegal Relief Fund was based in Australia and operated between 1858 and 1862 to bring emigrants from Donegal Ireland who were in dire circumstances to Australia.
The 'Donegal Relief Fund' paid the depositor portion of the assisted passage required by the New South Wales immigration deposit regulations. A depositor, or sponsor, paid four pounds to bring someone from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and the government paid the rest of the passage money. See: Richard Reed, 2008
