Turakina was a freight and passenger steamship launched in 1902, built by R & W Hawthorn, Leslie & Co Ltd. She was operated by the New Zealand Shipping Company. She was sunk by U-boat U-86 near Cornwall in 1917. Not to be confused with another ship by the same name which was sunk in the Tasman Sea in WW2.
