Wiarton is a community in Bruce County, Ontario, at the western end of Colpoys Bay, an inlet off Georgian Bay, on the Bruce Peninsula. The community became part of the town of South Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, in 1999.
(Incorporate into a space page) Wiarton wasn't settled until after 1866. James Lennox, the first settler, arrived in 1866. In 1868, B. B. Miller built a hotel and opened the post-office. Wiarton became an incorporated village in 1880 and a town in 1894.
