The ship William Money was built in 1820 at Kidderpore in India. She was listed as 834 - 1110 tons and had been built By J.Kyd & Co. Her dimensions were 142'3" x 36'7" x 26'6" It is believed the ship was named after a former East India ships captain and later Director of the East India Company Sir William Taylor Money (1769 – April 1834).
