Whilst, technically, not an occupation, the vast majority of wives of clergy have had their lifestyle dictated by their husband's calling. Numerous hours each week were 'donated to the church' to hospitality, charitable works, ministry amongst women and children, as well as listening to their husband practicisng his sermons time and time again. Of course, they were also expected to raise 'perfect' children. Such marriages were not for the 'faint-hearted'.
