He was with Co. I, 6th Tennessee Cavalry. He enlisted on July 9, 1861 at Camp Lee Tennessee. He was captured by the Union near Spring Place, Georgia on April 22, 1864. He was paroled at Camp Marton, Indiana and sent to Point Lookout, Maryland for exchange on Feb. 14, 1865, and was furloughed to Charlotte, North Carolina on March 28, 1865. He was in poor health the rest of his life.
