Lillian was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on March 8, 1931 to Francis Bertram Cauldwell, born in Leiscester, England, (he emigrated to Canada as a young boy); and his wife Vesta Elizabeth Ann Kinnear, born in Lindsay (Mariposa- Victoria South). She grew up with her two sisters Patrica Maltman (nee Cauldwell), and Jacqueline Bodie (nee Cauldwell). Lillian was the middle child in the family and had a zest for life, she was a high school beauty queen and an avid sports enthusiast who loved to speed skate. Her father; Francis Bertram Cauldwell, a Sgt, Major with the Winnipeg Grenadiers was called away with his battalion during WW2 to guard Hong Kong from the advance of the Japanese Army. Lillian and her sisters spent 4 years waiting for their Father`s return as he had been taken prisoner by the Japanese during a battle. It was very hard on the girls and their Mother, but they were a resourceful and hard working family. They were blessed to see their father return home after the surrender of the Japanese forces. Lillian married Ross James Rogan on April 29, 1950 in St. James United Church. They had 7 children; 6 boys and one daughter. The couple were well travelled as Mr. Rogan was involved in a number of careers. They worked as a young couple on the ships of the Great Lakes; and in later years Mr. Rogan became an architect and homebuilder in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Liilian was a homemaker for many years after the children were born, and in the early 1970`s her husband changed careers to become an aircraft mechanic and then engineer. Lillian worked for a time as an airline stewardess for small craft flights to the North out of Mount Hope Airport. Her husband was sent to the far North in Inuvik, NWT, (80 miles from the Arctic Circle) and five of their sons travelled with them during this time. Lillian was a kind and caring person who always thought of others, and she had a great sense of humour. Unfortunately, the generation she grew up in did not realize the dangers of smoking, and she developed throat cancer. Her illness was fairly brief and she passed away in Pallative care in December of 1996. She is buried in Brookfield Cemetary, Winnipeg, Manitoba across the street from the end of the Airport runway (a symbolic choice of she and her husband Ross as their departure point to Heaven.)
