He died May 17, 1872 in Lancaster County, South Carolina and is buried in Hanging Rock Methodist Church Cemetery. He Married Nancy Stevens and she is buried there beside him:

He married second, after Nancy"s death, her sister, Mrs Rebecca Stevens Fleming. Thomas and Rebecca did not have any children but she had one son by her first marriage, John Fleming.
