Adopted Profile

On 30 Jun 2015, Richard Hollenbeck found this orphaned profile, adopted it, and entered it into a "one-name study." [1]

Biography

Thomas was born in 1712. He was the son of Sir Thomas Cave, 3rd Bt and Hon. Margaret Verney. He was baptised on 4 June 1712 at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church, Covent Garden, London.

On the death of his elder brother on 13 September 1734, he succeeded as the 5th Baronet Cave, of Stanford, co. Northampton (est. 1641 in the Baronetage of England).[2] This gave him the equivalent status of a knight.

He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1735 entitled to practise as a barrister.

He married Elizabeth Davies, daughter of Griffith Davies and Elizabeth Burgoyne, in 1736. She became Lady Elizabeth. They had 5 or more children.

He was Member of Parliament for Leicestershire between 1741 and 1747 and again between 1762 and 1774.

He died in 1778 at the age of 66. He was buried at Stanford, Northamptonshire.
