Born on the 22nd of February 1654m Elizabeth Cavendish was the third daughter of Henry Cavendish, 2nd Duke of Newcastle and his wife, Frances Pierrepont. [1][2]
At Whitehall on the 30th of December 1669 she married Christopher Monk, Duke of Albemarle, son of George Monck, Duke of Albemarle and his wife, Anne Clarges. [3] [4]
Christopher took the post ofGovernor of Jamaica in 1686 and died there on the 6th of October 1688. [3]
Elizabeth's second husband was widower, Ralph, Duke of Montagu, son of Edward, Baron Montagu of Boughton and his wife, Anne Winwood. He died on the 9th of March 1709. [5]
Elizabeth died on the 28th of August 1734 and was interred on the 11th of September in Westminster Abbey. [6]
