Edward Cayley was born in 1578. He purchased the original Cayley estates at Brompton by Sawdon, Yorkshire. In 1578-79 his feoffees received from his father the advowson of Thormanby church.[1] He passed away in 1642 and was buried at All Saints, Brompton by Sawdon on 12 December 1642.[2].
