Arthur was born about 1702. He was the son of Simon Cayley. He studied at St John's College, Cambridge, England, where he matriculated in 1718. He was ordained deacon at Durham in 1725, and priest in 1727. He held multiple livings in Yorkshire. He passed away in 1761.
