Anders Celsius, also know as Andreas according to his birth record, was the inventor of the Celsius Temperature Scale and a noted astronomer. He built an observatory in Uppsala city which was finished in 1741. He lived in the observatory. He never married. He died at age 42 of tuberculosis.
Anders was christened in Uppsala on the 30th of November 1701. [1]
Son of Nils Celsius (1658-1724)[2] and Gunilla Maria Spole (1672-1756), and grandson of the mathematician Magnus Celsius, who deciphered the staveless runes. His uncle Olof Celsius was a botanist.
Anders Celsius was buried on the 1st of May 1744. [3]
