Biography of Rosario CENTANNI, III of 1811

Rosario Centanni III was born about 1811, in Alia, Provincia di Palermo, Sicilia, Regno delle Due Sicilie, the son of Rosario Centanni and his wife Leonarda Talamo.

Rosario Centanni III was one of five siblings:

1. Concetta Maria CentannI Ferrara, born 1803, who married Pietro Ferrara, who was born about 1796 in the vilage of Mezzojuso, Sicilia. Concetta Maria Centanni Ferrara passed away December 13, 1838 in Alia, Sicilia, Regno delle Due Sicilie.
2. Lucia Centanni Ditta, born 1806, who married Tommaso Ditta on June 6, 1830 in Alia, Sicilia Regno delle Due Sicilie.
3. Giuseppe Antonino Centanni, born 1808, who married Concetta Catalano, the sister of his brother Rosario Centanni's wife Maria Grazia Catalano, and they had children
4. Rosario Centanni III, born 1811, who married Maria Grazia Catalano, the sister of his brother Giuseppe Centanni's wife Concetta Catalano, and they had children.
5. Salvatore Antonino Centanni, born 1816, who married twice and had children. His first wife was Antonina Biondolillo whom he married about 1843, was widowed and his second wife was Concetta Leone whom he married about 1850.

Rosario Centanni III and his family were farmers in Alia, Provincia di Palermo, Sicilia, Italia. The family lived at 25 Via Mercato (Market Street) in Alia in 1895 where they could sell their produce in the town market.

Rosario Centanni III and his brother Giuseppe Antonino Centanni married the Catalano sisters, ( two daughters of Michele Catalano and his wife Andreana Giacopinello Catalano) and their children are double first cousins.

Rosario Centanni's wife is Maria Grazia Catalano. They had at least four children:

1. Salvatore Centanni, born December 24, 1839 in Alia, Sicilia, Regno delle Due Sicilie, and baptized on December 25, 1839, Christmas Day in Alia, who married Louise Solito, had about nine children, with whom he immigrated to the USA, returning in 1905 with his grandson Giuseppe Centanni, son of Rosario Centanni his oldest son, to retire and die in Alia.
2. Michele Centanni, born 1852 in Alia, married Filomina Mancuso, had several children, was widowed and remarried, and passed away in 1934 in Louisiana, USA.
3. Maria Centanni who stayed in Alia
4. Leonarda Andreana "Leone"Centanni who married Vincenzo Calogero Tripi in 1880 in Alia, Sicilia as recorded in the Atti di Matrimoni, Alia, Sicilia, Volume 135, Year 1880, Record Number 25, Image 290 as posted on Familysearch.org. Leone and Vincenzo had Tripi children.

Rosario Centanni III passed away about 1895, ten years prior to when his oldest son Salvatore returned from New Orleans, Louisiana, USA to take over the family farm. Perhaps his brother had the farm for a while. His death was reported by Andranna Catalano, but we are not sure which one. She was age 40, so probably one of his sister-in-laws rather than his mother in law. More research is necessary.
