Michele Centanni has Italian Roots.

Michele Salvadore "Ike" Centanni was born on July 18, 1873^[1] in Alia, Provincia di Palermo, Sicilia, Italia. He was the fourth son of Salvatore Centanni and Louisa Sileto.^[2][3] He immigrated with his family to New Orleans, Louisiana as a 14 year old, about 1887.

Michele was the third of five surviving siblings:

• Rosario Centann, born 1865, who founded the Gold Seal Creamery with his younger brother Antonino.
• Antonino Centanni, I (1869-1870)
• Antonino Centanni, II, born 1871 who founded the Gold Seal Creamery with his older brother Rosario.
• Michele Salvador "M. S. Ike" Centanni I, born July 18, 1873
• Gerolamo "Jerome" Centanni who moved to Chicago, Illinois
• Anna Centanni Andollina who married Epifiano Andollina and ran a grocery store.

Michele married a cousin from his mother's family, Vincenza "Virginia" Solito, in New Orleans in 1898.^[4][5] Vincenza "Virginia" was a daughter of Cosimo Solito and his wife, Aisabe Malsalina or Marsalona.

Michele and Virginia had at least these children:

• Salvatore Centanni (1899)^[6]
• Luigia Centanni (1902)^[7]
• Louisa Centanni
• Rose Centanni (1905-1987), who married Henry J. Reach, had at least two children.
• Mary Centanni (1909)
• Cosimo Paul Centanni (1910),^[8] who married Marie Bergeron and had children.
• Joseph Centanni born 1913.
• Katherine Centanni Luke (1915)^[9] who married Floyd Luke.
• Charles Centanni (1918-1934),^[10] never married, and died at age 16.

Michele, born 1873, has a nephew with the same name born 1912, so we are calling the younger Michele "the second."

In 1930 he and Virginia were counted on the census in New Orleans, with five children at home.^[11] In 1940, the United States Federal Census lists Michele and Virginia as living with their daughter, Katherine Centanni Luke, and her husband, Floyd Luke. A six year old nephew, Paul Centanni, also lived with the family.^[12]

Michele Centanni died in New Orleans in 1941.^[2]
