Arthur Centner

Arthur Bailey Centner, 84, of Mediapolis, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006, at his home.

Born Nov. 14, 1922, in Oakville, he was the son of Benjamin and Theodora "Evie" Bailey Centner. On June 2, 1945, he married Erma Young in Mediapolis.

He was a graduate of Huron High School and attended Iowa State University. He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Mediapolis, where he served as an elder, Sunday school teacher and superintendent. He was a member of Mediapolis Lions Club and was a 4–H leader for 25 years. He volunteered at Great River Medical Center. He spent his life farming.

Survivors include his wife of Mediapolis; one daughter, Pamela Thie of Scott Air Force Base; two grandchildren and one great–granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and an infant brother.

Visitation will be from 12 until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, where the family will meet with friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.

The funeral service for Mr. Centner will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mediapolis First United Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Kossuth Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
