Biography

OBITUARY: Graveside services for George Cessna, 82, of Lincoln, Texas, are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Houston, Texas.

George Kennedy Cessna was born on May 18, 1935 in Marquez, Texas to Green Kennedy Cessna and Lillian (Evans) Cessna. He served in the 2nd Armored Division of the United States Army from February 3, 1958 until receiving his Honorable Discharge on January 7, 1960. He obtained the rank of Sp4 (T). George married Joyce Puckett on October 14, 1961 in Houston, Texas. He was a retired route sales driver for Southland Dairies in Houston. George’s faith was important in his life. He had been a member of the Baptist Temple in Houston and Willis Baptist Church in Willis and had been actively involved with the Texas Baptist Men. He enjoyed working in the yard, taking care of his bird feeders, fishing, playing cards and dominoes and watching old western movies.

George passed away the evening of Thursday, March 22, 2018 at his home in Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lila Belle and three brothers, Sherman, Dan and Carroll.

George is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years, Joyce Cessna of Lincoln; three children, Joy Iselt & her husband, Glenn of Lincoln, Gay Jenkins of Luckenbach and Glenn Cessna of Houston; three grandchildren, Angela Jenkins of Luckenbach, Russell Iselt & his wife, Ronica of Lexington and their children, Sierra Green & her husband, Daniel & their daughter, Claire, Casey Iselt & his wife, Haley, Katelyn Iselt and Marla Iselt, Michael Iselt & his wife, Leigh Ann of Lincoln and their sons, Ty and Clay as well as several nieces and nephews.

For those desiring to make memorial contributions, the family recommends memorial contributions be made to the Texas Baptist Men or a charity of one’s choice.
