    The Late Alexander Chad
The death, last week at Willow Tree, of Mr. Alexander Chad, marks the passing of one of the old pioneers of the Walcha district. Born at Nemingha the late Mr. Chad was 79 years of age. He lived the greater part of his life in the district and his youth was spent carrying on the road between Maitland and Armidale. He later joined the railway service and for years was stationed at Wollun. Leaving the railway he purchased the well-known grazing property "Tara Springs." He successfully carried out grazing operations for 35 years. Disposing of the property four years ago he went to live at Willow Tree. The late Mr. Chad was a keen supporter of charity, of kindly disposition, was ever ready to extend a helping hand to those less fortunate than himself. Besides a widow, he leaves a family of four sons—S. T. and A. G. of Watson's Creek; W. J. Wollomim; and C. R. Chad, of Old Warah; and three daughters—Mrs. Molloy, Manilla: Mrs. T. Marshall, Walcha Road, and Mrs. M. Claund, of Old Warrah.
