Biography

Albert Gallatin Chadwick was born in Boscawen, Merrimack, New Hampshire. He was the son of Samuel Chadwick and Sarah (Sally) Morrill Chadwick.[1]

He published The Spirit of Inquiry in Concord, New Hampshire in 1833-4.[2]

He founded the Caledonian newspaper in St. Johnsbury in 1837.[3]

He is shown living in Saint Johnsbury, Caledonia, Vermont in the 1840 US Census.[4]

He married Helen Martin on September 13, 1843 in Saint Johnsbury, Caledonia, Vermont.[5]

In 1860 he is living in Saint Johnsbury with wife Helen and four children: Charles,12; Martha, 10; Payson, 8; and Albert, 5.[6]

In 1870 he is still living in Saint Johnsbury with Helen, Martha, Payson, and Albert.[7]

Albert died on August 4, 1873 in Saint Johnsbury and is buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery there.[8]
