He is probably a son of Tabor Chadwick (1773-1843), and was a ship captain. Both Mary and Taber must be descendants of Francis Chadwick and Huldah <Taber> Chadwick. Another Francis's (cousin to this Taber ?) biography shows Chadwick lineage.
"FRANCIS CHADWICK - The late Francis Chadwick, who in his time was one of the well known business men of Red Bank, Monmouth county, New Jersey, was born there March 18, 1813, and died May 30, 1882. The Chadwick's were a seafaring family. I've updated Elihu's profile with info taken from the ton of genealogical material I have on this family I'd be happy to share.
John is the son of John Chadwick and Johanna Runnels (Reynolds) who was born in Bermuda. I have of her lineage but it's hardly complete.
John is not the son of Thomas, who was governor of Bermuda and a contemporary of Bradford? in Massachusetts. Sorry, trying to remember all of this off the top of my head. He may be a grandson but I've found no link yet.
I've got lots of info on Francis and his siblings to put online yet. If you want, I'll let you know, if you like, you can link in.
