It is known that Adelaide Chadwick married John Harney, 1 Jul 1855, in Sandhurst (now Bendigo), Victoria, Australia. John and Adelaide had at least five children, some which died young:

After Adelaide was widowed, she joined the Sisters of the Good Shepard, where she was known as Sister Mary of the Rosary. Adelaide and John Harney's daughter Alice (1856-1926) also was a member of the Sisters of the Good Shephard.

Obituary: Obsequies of a Religious. - unknown newspaper. We have to chronicle with regret the death of Mrs. Harney, in religion, Sister Mary of the Rosary, an esteemed member of the community of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, Mount St. Canice, Sandy Bay, which took place somewhat unexpectedly in the early morning of Saturday last, 21 st inst. "Sister Mary," as she was familiarly called came along with four other Sisters of the congregation of the Good Shepherd, from Abbotsford, Victoria, to establish a branch of that world-wide institute - a home for poor penitent women - at Sandy Bay in April 1893. Her share in the work of the institution was mainly that allotted to a touriere Sister, and there are many business people in Hobart and suburbs to-day who will remember the zeal, energy, and tact with which she fulfilled the varied duties entrusted to her for some five or sex years. During the last five years her health had been failing, and yet, as we learn, up to the day of her death she faithfully discharged the lighter domestic duties laid upon her. Solemn high mass of requiem was offered for her eternal repose the the Convent chapel on Monday, 22nd inst. Monsignor Hoyne being celebrant, and Fathers Hennessy and Meagher deacon and subdeacon respectively. Father Henneby directed the ceremonies, whilst members of St. Joseph's choir, assisted by F. Shinnick, Miss J. Reichenberg, presiding at the organ, efficiently rendered music appropriate to the occasion. A few old Victorian friends of the deceased now on a visit to Hobart were present at the solemn function.

Immediately afterwards the funeral cortege started for Cornelian Bay Cemetery, and was joined there by the Venerable Archbishop of Hobart and Father Gilleran. His Grace assisted by the clergy, performed the last rights at the grave.

Deceased was in her 71st year. [6]
