Lydia Chase was born at Salisbury, Massachusetts on May 31, 1665, daughter of Philip and Mary (Sargent) Challis. [1][2]
Her father died in 1680, and Lydia received a legacy of L47 when she came of age, as did her siblings. [3]
Lydia married John Chase at Salisbury on December 21, 1687, as his second wife. [1] John was born at Newbury, Massachusetts on November 2, 1655, son of Aquila and Anne Chase. [4][2]
As she is named in her husband John's will, written in October, 1730, she died sometime after that date. [5]
John Chase died at Newbury at the age of 84 on February 26, 1740. [4]
John Chase, husbandman of Newbury, wrote his will on October 22, 1730. It was accepted at the probate court on March 7, 1739/40.[5][2]
In it he left bequests to:
wife Lydia, on third of his estate during her natural life and all movable goods
son Philip Chase, 5s as he has already received his portion
son Charles Chase, 5s as he has already received his portion
son Jacob Chase, 5s as he has already received his portion
son Abraham Chase, 5s as he has already received his portion
daughter Phebe Tucker, 6L in addition to what she already had
daughter Mary Safford, 5s as she has already received her portion
daughter Lydia Blea (sic) 5s as she has already received her portion
daughter Elizabeth 20s provided 'she come to Newbury for it'
grandson Jonathan Chase, son of Charles, 10L when he reaches age 21
son David Chase, all my estate, real and personal, including my house and barn, provided that he, as executor, pay all debts and funeral expenses and legacies mentioned [5]
