William was born in Cambridgeshire in 1810. He married Mary Ann Dellar on December 2, 1830, in Bassingbourn. According to the 1851 census, he was an agricultural labor. In 1851, he and his family (wife, Mary Ann, and their nine children, lived at 42 North End in in Bassingbourn.
