Biography

Jane Chamberlain was born in 1823 in Wapping, Middlesex. In the 1891 census she was claimed to have been born "on the sea", so perhaps she was born near the shore. She was baptized on 20 Jul 1823 at St Botolph Without Aldgate, London, England, the child of John (a labourer) and Sarah Chamberlain, born 1 Jul 1823. ^[1]

In 1850 she married Edwin (or Edward) Cheriton, an itinerant musician; she was 27, he was 38. They went on to have 13 children. ^[2]

She passed away on 19 AUG 1894, at 25 Lewisham Street, St George Hanover Square, London, England. ^[4]
