Rank: Ensign

John Pierpont Chamberlain was born 7 Mar 1741/2 in Woodstock, Windham, Connecticut, the son of John Chamberlain (1712 – 1787) and Hannah Child (1709 – 1778).[1][2][3] He was baptized at the First Church there on 14 Mar 1742[4] He married Mary Frissell (1742 – 1814) before 1766 (the birth of their first child).[3] Mary Frissell was born at Woodstock on 17 July 1742 the daughter of Capt. Benjamin and Naomi (May) Frizzell.[5][3] John Chamberlin and his wife Mary owned the covenant at the First Church in Woodstock on 20 July 1766. [6] This is a pledge that bound one to adhere to the doctrine of the church and it shows that they were married before this date.

John is not found in the 1820 census for Woodstock when he and Mary were probably living with one of their children.

14 Chamberlin Bible clearly says " Hannah." But there is a child of John, Jr., and Mary named "Rausell" recorded on that date (Vital Records of Woodstock, 132). The original Woodstock Vital Records, 2:37, clearly say " Rausell." The age in the Chamberlin Bible record of Roswell 's death agrees.

15 Vermont State Vital Records (cards for both vital records and cemetery) and the Chamberlin Bible both say 1806; Bowen, Woodstock, 3:279, says it should be 1808, the information supplied by a granddaughter, Mrs. Laura Goodridge of Williston, Vt., but she was apparently mistaken.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
