1939 U.K. Register For Elm Church Lane , Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, England :
After the war Edward served as a Brevet[12] Lieutenant-Colonel, in the Territorial Army, a Deputy Lieutenant of Oxfordshire and, like his father Stanes, and grandfather, Henry, before him, as a Justice of the Peace. [13]
His home was in Oxfordshire at The Elm, Church Lane, Chipping Norton, one of the few gentleman's houses in Chipping Norton, not a stone's throw from the mound where Chipping Norton's motte and bailey castle, had been built by another ancestor, a 24x great grandfather of his; Ernulf de Hesdin. Had he known, and perhaps he did, he would have been tickled pink.He died aged 81 on 2 May 1963 and was buried at St Nicholas old chantry chapel churchyard, Heythrop, near Chipping Norton.[14]
