Biography

Blagburn was born on February 16, 1898 at Winona in Scott County, Tennessee. He was the son of Elihue Chambers and Manda ( Jeffers ) Chambers . He married |Luella Terry on September 8, 1930 in Scott County, after she passed away in 1948 Blagburn married Nannie Ellen Pennington around 1950 in Scott County. He passed away on November 23, 1981 at the Scott County Hospital in Oneida, Scott County.

Obituary,

Blagburn Chambers, Rev., 83, of the Pine Hill Community, passed away Monday afternoon, November 23 at the Scott County Hospital. He was a member of The Church of God and a gospel preacher for 52 years. He served three years in the U. S. Army prior to WWI. He was the son of the late Elihue Chambers and the late Mandy Jeffers Chambers. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Zellie Dolan; two half-sisters: Marget Spurlock and Jicy Chandler; three brothers: Wilbur, Luster, and Ben Chambers. He is survived by his wife, Nannie Ellen Pennington Chambers of the Pine Hill Community; three daughters: Pearline Sexton of Oneida, Lola West of Knoxville and Linda Chambers of Oneida; three sons: Bobby Gene Lawson, David Chambers, and Gary Lynn Chambers, all of Oneida; one sister, Nancy Phillips of Oneida; and eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the West-Murley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Johnson, Rev. Phillip Kazee, and Rev. Ira Sexton officiating. Burial followed in the Hazel Valley Cemetery. The Chester Sexton Family sang. West-Murley Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. (Source: The Scott County News, 26 Nov 1981, p17)
