Ambrose Bennett Chandler was born on 15 May 1862 in Carroll, Georgia, United States, son of Cpl Hiram Bennett Chandler (1831 - 1900) and Frances Marian (Holloway) Chandler (1836 - ~1898).

He could read and write, and he owned his own home. According to this census, he and his mother were born in Georgia, and his father was born in South Carolina.

He died on February 7, 1923, in Cullman County, Alabama. He was buried at Emeus Cemetery in Logan, Cullman County, Alabama.

In 1934, he was listed in the death record of his wife, Alice Sophie Adams Chandler, as her husband.
