Biography
Minnie Elizabeth Chandler was born 24 Oct 1906 to Thomas and Susan Ella Chandler. [1] She never married but raised three girls: Betty Jean Cash Chambers, Barbara Ann Cash Roberts Long, and Joyce Marie Cash Petersen. Minnie gave herself to the church (Bethany United Methodist) and to her city.
In 1938, she took an apartment in Mt Airy, North Carolina with her friends Virginia Coltrane, Mary Ellen Lassiter, and Louise Kendall. They all loved to travel and camp and she would cook supper beside a stream with her friends. [2]
She was a ticket agent at Norfolk and Southern Railroad until it closed and then taught school as a Media Specialist at Bragtown School until retirement. She and her sister, Lizzie Grey Chandler, lived together until death.
She passed away 8 Oct 1992 in Durham, North Carolina.[3]
