Charles Wesley Chapin was born 20 December 1875 in Vernon Township, Shiawassee, Michigan the son of Leroy Chapin and Orrice Olivia Perry.[1] He appeared in the household of his parents who resided in Hazelton Township, Shiawssee on the 1880 Census.[2]
Charles and Ada Hopper married 6 October 1897.[3] Their son Herald Wesley was born and died 6 February 1900;[4] Lloyd Ellsworth (1903) and an un-named stillborn girl born 21 August 1906.[5]
Charles and Ada were enumerated in Hazelton Township where his occupation was as a farmer in 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930 and 1940.

The 12 September 1918 World War 1 Draft Registration showed Charles as a self-employed farmer at New Lothrop, Shiawassee, Michigan.

Charles died 25 January 1957 and is buried in Elmwood Cemetery, New Lothrop, Shiawassee, Michgan.[12]
