Biography
From Genealogical and Personal History of Western Pennsylvania:
Benjamin Chaplin, founder of the American branch of the family, was born in 1687, in England, and emigrated to the American colonies, at what date is not recorded. He was at Lynn, Massachusetts, and later settled at Pomfret, Connecticut. He married, at Maiden, Connecticut, but the name of his wife has not come down to us.
