Biography

Record sates his age at the date of death as 79 and birth year estimated as 1767. Place of birth is not listed. However all of their ten children were born in Waterford. The first child was born 18 Feb 1790 and also named Hannah; both John and his wife Hannah are buried in the Waterford Stiles Cemetery PLOT ST+7.6 MEMORIAL ID 46270552. His head stone reads "died Apr. 4, 1846/AE. 79/"A Soldier of the Revolution" The 1818 Federal Military Pension Records list John Chaplin from VT. the 1840 census of pensioners lists John Chaplin as from Waterford, Head of family and age 73.
