On 2 Aug. 1771, marriage intentions were filed in Rowley, MA. between Asa and Mary Bailey of Haverhill.[2] The couple settled in the part of Rowley, MA which is now Georgetown, MA. Asa Chaplin served in the American Revolution.[3] Asa and Mary had the following children, born in Rowley:

Martha, b. 4 Sep. 1784; m. John Stickney, 2 Oct. 1804; d. 6 Dec. 1867; and
Richard Bailey, b. 28 Feb. 1788; m. Sophia Brown, 1 Dec. 1809; d. 31 Oct. 1862.
Asa was recorded on the 1790 and 1800 censuses for Rowley, MA.
Asa executed a will Mar. 17, 1807 in which he mentioned his wife Mary, son Jeremiah “who has already received the greater part of his portion”, son Benjamin to half of his lands and buildings, son Richard Bailey Chaplin, then a minor, and daughter Martha Stickney.
