Emma Chapman was born at Caldecote, being baptized 7th August, 1842, at Kingston, Cambridgeshire. She is the daughter of Elijah Chapman and Jane Parish. [1]
On 2nd November, 1863, at Caldecote, she married John Bond. Both were single and their respective fathers were recorded as Elijah Chapman and John Bond. [2][3]
The 1871 census sees the Bond family living Toft, Cambridgeshire, where Emma Bond is shown as 28 years old, born Caldecote. Her husband, John, is a 29-year-old Labourer, born Hardwick, Cambs. They have four children at home on census night: Elizabeth Ann (6) and Stephen (5) born Hardwick; Young Henry (3) and Jane Rebecca (1) born Toft. [4]
By the 1881 census, after a short stay in Hardwick - according to the birthplaces of the younger children - the Bond family had moved to Childerley, Cambridgeshire, where John, now 39, was a Farm Labourer. He and Emma (indexed as Ellen, born Toft) have seven children at home on census night: Stephen (15), Young (13), Jane (11), Ellen (9), Frederick (7), Herbert (5) and Matilda (2). [5]
1891 Census: Elsworth Road, Boxworth, Huntingdonshire, England. Both John and Emma are shown as 48 years old, born Cambridgeshire. John is an Agricultural labourer. They have three children at home on census night: Matilda (12), Herbert (15) and Charles (5). [6]
