Biography

Alfred was born in 1805. He is the son of Abel Chapman and Rebecca Bell. Alfred, son of Abel Chapman & Rebecca Chapman, was born on 28 4 1796 in Tottenham, Middlesex, England.[1]

He was a ship's captain, commanding for a period of time The Woodford owned by his father, amongst other commands.[2]

Alfred married Caroline Macnaghten daughter of Calcutta judge Francis Workman-MacNaghten, on 20 July 1824 in St Marylebone, Middlesex, England.[3][4][5] Their children included:

  • Letitia Maria Chapman 1825– m. Fredrick Charles Gaussen, 6 children
  • Alfred Daniel Chapman 1827–1902 m. Madeline Emily Hanbury
  • Francis Stewart Chapman 1829–1887 m. Mary Charlotte Macnaghten, 2 children

Alfred's daughter Letitia Maria Chapman was baptised on 27 July 1825 in St Marylebone, Middlesex, England.[6][7][8] Alfred's son Alfred Daniel Chapman was baptised on 4 April 1827 in St Marylebone, Middlesex, England.[9][10] Alfred's son Edward Henry Chapman was baptised on 12 June 1831 in St. Mary's, Birkenhead, Cheshire, England.[11][12][13][14] Alfred's son William Hey Chapman was baptised on 28 October 1832 in Wanstead, Essex, England.[15][16] Alfred's daughter Caroline Matilda Chapman was baptised on 31 December 1839 in St Marylebone, Middlesex, England.[17][18][19]

In the 1851 census Alfred (age 54), Capn Maritine Service E I C, was the married head of household on Upper Hyde Park Street, Paddington, Middlesex, England.[20]

Alfred's daughter Letitia Maria Chapman married on 16 October 1852 in Hertford, Hertfordshire, England.[21]

Alfred's son A D Chapman, Esq married Madeline Emily on 13 November 1852 in Hertford, Hertfordshire, England.[22]

Alfred was mentioned in the obituary of his daughter Carolina Maud Chapman on 10 April 1882 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.[23][24]

Alfred was mentioned in the obituary of his another person Rowley Hill, Right Rev D D 67th Bishop Of Sodor and Man on 28 May 1887 in Derby, Derbyshire, England.[25][26][27]

Alfred's son Alfred Chapman died on 18 April 1914 in Toronto, York, Ontario.[28]
