Alfred was born in 1805. He is the son of Abel Chapman and Rebecca Bell. Alfred, son of Abel Chapman & Rebecca Chapman, was born on 28 4 1796 in Tottenham, Middlesex, England.[1]
He was a ship's captain, commanding for a period of time The Woodford owned by his father, amongst other commands.[2]
Alfred married Caroline Macnaghten daughter of Calcutta judge Francis Workman-MacNaghten, on 20 July 1824 in St Marylebone, Middlesex, England.[3][4][5] Their children included:

In the 1851 census Alfred (age 54), Capn Maritine Service E I C, was the married head of household on Upper Hyde Park Street, Paddington, Middlesex, England.[20]
Alfred's daughter Letitia Maria Chapman married on 16 October 1852 in Hertford, Hertfordshire, England.[21]
Alfred's son A D Chapman, Esq married Madeline Emily on 13 November 1852 in Hertford, Hertfordshire, England.[22]
Alfred was mentioned in the obituary of his daughter Carolina Maud Chapman on 10 April 1882 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.[23][24]
Alfred was mentioned in the obituary of his another person Rowley Hill, Right Rev D D 67th Bishop Of Sodor and Man on 28 May 1887 in Derby, Derbyshire, England.[25][26][27]
Alfred's son Alfred Chapman died on 18 April 1914 in Toronto, York, Ontario.[28]
