Fanny Elizabeth Chapman (aka Frances Elizabeth Chapman) was born in 1879 in Essex, England to Henry Chapman and Mary Ann (Chipperfield) Chapman. Her birth was registered in West Ham, Essex in the second quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Chipperfield.[1]
In 1881 Fanny Chapman (age 2) lived in East Ham, Essex with her father Harry (27, Stoker), mother Mary A (25, Laundress), and two sisters: Emma (5, Scholar) and Mary A (0).[2]
In 1891 Fanny Chapman (age 11, Scholar) lived at Cooke Street in Barking, Essex with her father Henry (37, Gas Stoker), mother Mary (35), and six siblings: Emma (15, Jute Spinner), Fredrick (12, Scholar), Mary (10, Scholar), Henry (8, Scholar), Elizabeth (3), and Edith (1).[3]
In 1901 Frances Chapman (age 23) lived at Axe Street in Barking as a boarder in the household of her brother-in-law Richard Edward Lucas (27, Gas Labourer) - also in the household were her married sister Emma Ellen Charlotte Lucas (26) and four Lucas nieces & nephews: Richard Edward (7), Celia Ellena (5), George (3), and Charles (1), as well her sister Elizabeth Chapman (13, Servant General Domestic) and brother Richard Chapman (14).[4]
