Biography

Prudence (Chapman) Hubbard Carey was born on 27 October 1748 at East Haddam, Middlesex, Connecticut. Her parents were Robert Chapman (1700 -1764) and Mary (Church) Chapman (1706 - 1764).

She married first Caleb Hubbard about 1764. They had four sons:

1. Calvin Hubbard (b. 1765)
2. Caleb Hubbard (b. 1773)
3. Joshua Hubbard (b. 1774)
4. Ansel Hubbard (b. 1776)

Caleb died in 1863. She married second Waitstill Carey on 30 September 1787.

Waitstill Carey was born about 1749 to Joseph and Abigail Carey. He was baptized on 2 August 1749 at East Hampton, Connecticut. He had married first Edetha Bigelow in March 1776 and they had two sons: Otis Carey in 1781 and Joseph Carey in 1783. Edetha died in 1785.

Prudence and Waitstill had one son: Bigelow Cary, born 30 June 1788 at Chatham, Middlesex, Connecticut.

Prudence passed away in 1788 at East Haddon, Middlesex, Connecticut.
