Biography

Theodore was born in 1926 in Japan, the son of Presbyterian missionaries Gordon Chapman and Katherine Denman.

From his ocean voyages from Japan back and forth to California as a boy, he developed a love of ships. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1951. He became a Naval Architect, working as a civilian employee of the US Navy his entire career.

He married Theodora Brown in 1961.^[1] They had three children.

They lived in Bremerton, Washington, where Ted worked at the Puget Sound Shipyard, and then moved across the country to Rockville, Maryland.

He passed away in 2012. ^[2]
