Biography

Robert Chapman was born in about 1849 in Leeds, Yorkshire.

Robert married Lettice Taylor on 2 Jan 1869 at St Peter's Church in Swinton, Lancashire. Both were 20 years old and living in Swinton, and neither had been married before. Robert was a collier. Their fathers were James Chapman (carter) and Abel Taylor (weaver). The witnesses were Thomas Taylor and Emma Chapman.

Lettice died in 1890 in Salford, aged 41.^[1]

Robert married Julia (Taylor) Tinker in the first quarter of 1891, in a registrar-attended ceremony in Prestwich district.

Julia died in 1900 in Salford district, aged 63.

Robert married Alice Gilbody in 1903 at St Paul's Methodist Chapel in Salford.
