George was born on 10 Apr 1885 in Clay Cross, Derbyshire, England. He was the eldest child of George CHAPMAN and Sarah FINES.[1]

1st Marriage and Children
At the age of 20, he married Jemima WAKE on 10 Jun 1905 at the Register Office in Basford, Nottinghamshire, England. Witnesses to the marriage were William WAKE and Nellie WAKE.[2]

At the time of his marriage, George was employed as a coal miner. He was living at 45 Florence Street, Hucknall Torkard, Nottinghamshire, England. [2]

George & Jemima had the following children:

  1. Horace was born in 1906 in Hucknall Torkard, Nottinghamshire.
  2. Mima was born in 1907 in Hucknall Torkard, Nottinghamshire.
  3. Annie was born in 1909 in Basford, Nottinghamshire.
  4. Rosa was born on 19 May, 1913 in Rotherham, Yorkshire.
  5. Jessie was born in 1917 in Mexborough, Yorkshire.
  6. Albert Norman was born on 20 Sep, 1918 at 1 Orchard Terrace, Mexborough, Yorkshire.

Death of 1st Wife
In 1918, George's wife Jemima succumbed to the Spanish Flu, just 6 weeks after giving birth to their youngest child.

2nd Marriage and Children
George married for a second time to Violet PRATT (nee SEWELL), a widow, on 23 Apr 1921 in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, England.[3]

George & Violet had the following children:
