His mother passed away in 1774. His father remarried and the family moved to Belchertown, Massachusetts.[2]
He served under Captain Frothingham in the Artillery at the age of 16 and reenlisted for three years in 1781.[3] He was a private in the Massachusetts 7th Regiment.
He married Lydia Wilson at Belchertown in 1784.[4] They had 9 children:
By 1800 they were living in Hebron, Washington County, New York State. Ebenezer spent his final years living with his youngest son George's family.[5] He passed away in 1850.
