Biography

John was born by 1613, based on date of freemanship. His origins are unknown.

He emigrated in 1633, initially settling in Watertown, Massachusetts, but he removed to Wethersfield, CT. He was living in New Haven, CT by 1638, then Fairfield and then Stamford, CT by 1649. He was a planter.

Martha (______) Lawrence, widow of Thomas Lawrence of Milford and John were married by 1652; she married for a third time at Stamford on 17 Dec 1657 to Francis Browne[1] as his second of three wives.[2]

John died befroe 17 Dec 1657, (the date his widow remarried).

He died intestate. His estate was inventoried at £403, of which £100 was real estate. After debts had been paid, the balance was distributed to his widow, to Mary Chapman and to Elizabeth Chapman.
