Charles was born in 1918 to Charles Chapman and Jeanettte Mitchell. He went Missing in Action in May 1942 after a successful bombing mission. He is believed to have collided with a Japanese bomber. Charles had been assigned to the 5th Air Force, 8th Fighter Group, 36th Fighter Squadron.^[1]
