Marjorie Ellen Chapman was born on 16 Aug 1904 in The Summit, Queensland, Australia as the eighth child of Albert Chapman and Susan Mollis. She had eleven siblings, namely: Gertrude Elizabeth, Robert Vivian, Sarah Irene, Susan Lillian, Clarice Mary, Albert Edmund, Elsie May, Constance Muriel, Dorothy Kathleen, Ernest Raymond, and Violet Daphne. She died on 11 Aug 1964 in Stanthorpe, Queensland, Australia. When she was 31, she married Edgar Harold Tonkin, son of Ernest Tonkin and Matilda Jane Bacon, on 20 Nov 1935 in Stanthorpe, Queensland, Australia.
