Biography

Gladys was born 2 Feb 1909 in Washington, Kansas. She was the daughter of Omar Chappell and Abbie Scott.

In 1910 she was living in Haddam, Washington, Kansas.^[1] The household included Omar P Chappell age 23, wife Abbegail M Chappell age 19, daughter Jesse E Chappell age 2 and daughter Gladys N Chappell age 1, all born in Kansas. Omar was a farmer. Omar and Abigail had been married 3 years.

In 1915 she was living in Mahaska, Washington, Kansas.^[2] The household included Tom Duggan age 41 born in Iowa, Abbie Duggan age 25 born in Kansas, Jessie Duggan age 7 born in Kansas and Gladys Duggan age 6 born in Kansas. Tom was a laborer and owned his home. Jessie and Gladys attended school. Jessie and Gladys were using their stepfather's name.

In 1920 she was living in Union, Washington, Kansas.^[3] The household included Tom Duggan age 46 born in Iowa, wife Abbegail M Duggan age 28 born in Kansas, daughter Jessie E Duggan age 12 born in Kansas and daughter Gladys N Duggan age 10 born in Kansas. Tom was a farmer. Norman L Scott lived nearby.

In 1925 she was living in Washington, Kansas.^[4] The household included Tom Duggan age 52 born in Iowa, Abigail M Duggan age 37 born in Kansas, daughter Jessie Duggan age 17 born in Kansas and daughter Gladys age 16 born in Kansas. Tom was a retired farmer.

In 1930 she was living in Wichita, Sedgwick, Kansas.^[5] The household included Gladys Chappell age 21, sister Jessie Chappell age 23, lodger Norma Brown age 20, lodger Emma Boon age 18 and lodger Lavern Bourseau age 4, all born in Kansas. Gladys was the operator of a beauty shop. Emma was a waitress in a cafe.

According to a grave memorial, she married first Charles Robert Eichelberger b. 1900 and then Carlton Eason Hoard b. 1914. No sources have been found.

She died 8 Apr 1985 in Sacramento, California.^[6][7]
