He was born December 8, 1921 in Perry Township, near Langdon, ND, as one of ten children to Mederic and Laura (Marcelin) Chaput. George was united in marriage to his bride of 71 years, Anna Marcotte, on November 27, 1944 in Olga, ND. George and Anna had ten children who, by example, taught them to work hard, instilled in them their values and their faith, and demonstrated their dedication and love for each other and family.
After spending a year in Ypsilanti, MI, they returned to North Dakota where they farmed near Milton, ND from 1945 through 1967. George and Anna moved to Grand Forks in 1967 where he worked at St. Anne’s Guest Home and UND before he became an independent drywall contractor. After retiring in 1982, he and Anna traveled extensively in their motorhome, made annual trips to Medora, ND, and spent several winters in Texas or Arizona. Whenever they traveled, they always took time to visit relatives and friends along the way.
George was an active Catholic, a member of Saint Michael’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Eagle’s Club, and Good Sam Club.
